Last week we produced a Google Business Photos virtual tour for the Plaza Community Cinema in Crosby, North Liverpool to showcase the major improvements that are going on there.
This one took rather longer than your typical tour to photograph, there were a couple of reasons for this. Firstly, it is a large building, so there were a lot of Panorama positions (we ended up with 28, the maximum Google currently allow is 30). However, the main reason this one took so long was that even with all of the house lights switched on, it is surprisingly dark in there.
We also have to work with a reasonably small aperture to get the required depth of field for a panorama and equally we can’t work with too high an iso level as that would generate a noisy picture (in fact for Google panoramas both of these parameters are controlled by Googles requirements as well).
So the result was many of the shots were using shutter speeds between 30 seconds and a minute. Multiply that by the 12 shots required at each panorama position and the 28 panoramas and you start to get the idea.
Add to that the sloped floors in the cinema where nothing is level and you can see this was quite a job.
As always, the post-processing still took longer than the photo session, but despite all the effort we think the results were worthwhile. Judge for yourself below. Click on the icon in the top right hand corner to view full-screen.
This is probably one of the smallest Google Business Photos tours we will ever do as it isn’t a large shop, but don’t let that fool you, they have a massive amount of stock for such a small place and will be extending the sales area soon.
A couple of “gigapixel” panoramas I took this weekend of the marina at Conwy.
The light was all over the place with the sun going behind clouds and popping out again so I am quite surprised they came out so well.
As usual, click on the image to and use your mouse or the buttons to drag the image around and the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
For the best viewing, click on the button at the bottom right of the image to go full screen.
